Danielle Huey

Hi, my name is Danielle Huey.  I am 10 years old and live in Clarksville, Tn.  I started showing in March 2007.  I started with my grandpa's Labrador Retriever.  My third win was in Harriman, Tn in May 2007.  My grandpa bought me a Toy Fox Terrier in April 2007 and in July I began showing her in the conformation and junior ring.  I still show my grandpa's Lab in the conformation ring sometimes too.  When I grow up I hope to be either a Professional Handler or a veterinarian.

Bess Cleveland

My name is Bess Cleveland and I am from Gastonia, NC.  I am a freshman at Gaston Day School.  I just got my 3rd win on August 9th and am looking forward to competing in Open.  I got my 3 within three different shows.  I got 2 firsts in Greenville and my third in Greensboro.
I show an absolutely FABULOUS Chinese Crested dog whose name is Ch. Gingery's Hydra, but I call him Hydra.  No offense to anybody else, but he is the best dog in the world.  He got best of breed my second time in the ring, and two best of opposites around my sixth show (the same show I got my two junior firsts!)
I would really like to thank Brenna Potash and her mom for getting me started in showing and always supporting me.  I would also like to thank Paula Tyler and her mom for supporting me as well. I am super excited about being in open and wish everyone the best of luck!!!!!!!

Jazmine Virrueta

My name is Jazmine Virrueta and I am turning 10 years old this week. I live in Tracy, California and I show a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Ch. Torlundy Allegria Billabong. Billy is two years old and I started showing him last June when I helped my neighbor Mary show him in the Breed Classes. I took Reserve Winners Dog my first time in the ring and I became addicted to showing! Mary added me as a co ? owner so that I could show him in Juniors. My first time in Juniors was in October at our Bay Area Cavalier Specialty. I was the only one in my class was happy to get to come back in the ring and be considered for Best Junior. I showed 4 more times in Novice, getting a 1st and then a 2nd and then two more 1st and quickly moved into Open after an amazing weekend at Golden Gate Kennel Club show.

I am enjoying meeting other kids at the shows and so far everyone has been very friendly and supportive. Here are a few pictures of me showing.

Justin Cummings
Justin Cummings

Hi, my name is Justin Cummings. I'm 9 years old and I live in Portland, Oregon. I entered my first dog show as a Novice Junior handler on my 9th birthday. Six months prior to this day, I started taking conformation handling classes. Recently, I completed my third win in Novice Jrs at the Colorado Kennel Club on February 18, 2007 in a class of 15. I would like to thank Judge Mr Jerry E Rush for making this a special day.

This is a photo of me with my Pug, Alize Walkin' In The Sunshine. Thanks Judge Ms. Gretchen K. Schultz for the 1st place award. My dog is 16 months old now and has completed both of his majors. He has lots of spunk which makes handling him fun and challenging. Thank you Frankie and Tree Jones of Alize Pugs for offering him to us; he's a wonderful dog!

Last year (2006), I ranked #5 Junior Pug handler in the nation. My goal is to qualify for Westminster 2008 and to be the very first junior to win Junior Westminster with a toy dog. If you happen to see me at a dog show, I'll be competing in Open Juniors. Thanks again to all that have welcomed me and my family to the sport.

Mary McAuley

My name is Mary McAuley.  I am nine years old,
in fourth grade, and live on Long Island,  New York.

I wanted to show dogs after seeing our own
dogs in the show ring. We have english mastiffs,
but they were a bit big for me to show.
 We were at
a show and saw the french bulldogs. I fell in love
with them. We met  Elena Siegman of Rockydell
French Bulldogs. We purchased an adorable cream
male I named Navy. We would practice for a few
minutes everyday, and go to handling classes.
My mom thought ten was the age for juniors,
so I started showing in the breed ring. We thought
it would be a good idea to get him used to the shows.
My first show was in  Mid July. I was shocked whe
we won the Breed. It was my first show with the pup.
The next day we won Best of Winners. Our next
show we won breed again, over specials. We
decided to go to a few more shows at the end of
August. Navy and I got Best of Winners all three
days, winning three majors and finishing his
championship. I was very excited finishing my
first dog out of the puppy class.
We soon found out that the age for juniors was
actually nine. My next step was to try juniors. I
not so flashy, and we did not have a lot of
experience
. We got our first novice win.
A few weeks later we went away for some more
shows, and got my other two wins in Massachussets.
I now show in open juniors. I am currently
ranked #7 in juniors for french bulldogs. Our next
goal is Westminster.

Thank you,
Mary McAuley

Kaiti Sheaves

Hello, my name is Kaiti Sheaves.  I am 9 years
old and I am in 4th grade in Virginia. My first
time in the ring was in April 2006.  I got my
third novice win at the Shawnee Kennel Club on
July 16, 2006. I show Labradors along with my
sister Jessi. I have a 9 month old black lab
that I show for juniors and I have a 3 yr old
yellow Labrador that I like to show at matches
and sometimes in the breed ring.  My sister has
been showing for a couple of years and I
couldn't wait to get my number so that I could
start showing.  I am currently ranked #9 in
Labradors right now.  My sister qualified for
Eukanuba and Westminster this year so my
goal for next year is to qualify for both so I can
go with her.  I also want to be ranked in the
top 5 next year in Labradors and also in Open
Junior. I love going to dog shows with my
family and we have 5 labs
right now that we
show.  I can't wait until next year.

Kyle Thun

My name is Kyle Thun. I am 11 years old
and in the 6th grade.  My first time in the
ring was in May 2006.I received three wins
my first three times in the ring, so I moved
up to Open Juniors very quickly! I’ve only
shown in 5 weekends of AKC shows and
am currently ranked #8 in 13” Beagles. I
really like dog showing, it’s one of my
favorite things to do.  I show a 13” beagle,
Ch Echo Run Calamity Jane, ‘Abby’. I want
to say thank you to Carrie Davis, of Talbot
Hill Beagles, for allowing me to co-own and
show Abby.  Abby is really fun to show and
live with.  Her favorite thing is getting belly
rubs!  I joined 4-H this year and we
qualified to go to the State Fair. My 9 year
old brother also shows and is in Novice
Junior with his 15” beagle and has 1 win so
far. I paln to continue showing in Juniors
as much as I can. Here is a photo of my
first win with Abby.

Jocie Johnson

My name is Jocie Johnson and I am 11 years
old. I had always dreamed of being in a dog
show, and watched them on televison, but no
one in my family showed dogs. My grandmother
got a Long Coated Chihuahua puppy from
Bobby Harper, Midnite Marsh Magic, and we
began taking handling classes together--can't
wait to see him with CH in front of his name!
Now I am a junior handler--it is so much fun!
I love to show.
When I went to a show in Harriman, TN, a lady
saw me working with my dog, and asked me to
show her Toy Fox Terrier because her handler
couldn't make it. It was fun showing her dog,
also.
My ring side assistant is my sister, Alex,
who is 7. She has really helped me and my
dog in and out of the ring. My goals are to
work hard and to make it to the top in the
dog show world. I can't wait to go to the
invitationals! Through t
he junior handler pages,
I have made contact with Mrs. Milne, who is
placing her champion 13 inch beagle,
Ch. Milne's Something To Talk About (Toby)
with me soon. I am looking forward to
continuing my junior handling with this fantastic
dog. Thank you, Mrs. Milne.

Baybee & Marissa
Marissa Hancock

I just recently received my third  Novice Senior
win
this last November at the Philadelphia
circuit. I am
the first person in my family to be
involved in dogs and dog shows so I have been
semi-limited in the number of shows I have been
able to compete in. I started showing in Jrs when
I was 14 in 2003 with my pet quality Shih-Tzu
who had two problems:

1. She did not like other dogs and
2. Her coat was always shaved since she was a
puppy (we adopted her when she was 2) so it
would not grow out as normal hair. I was able
to show Baybee in 4 shows in Novice Senior,
receiving two of my first wins.

Once the AKC split the classes further in 2005 I
was already 16 and most of my competition had
already moved up into Open or they were 14 and
moved into Novice Intermediate, so I spent
almost all of 2005 starting to show my new Toy
Fox Terrier puppy in JRs and in Breed, but there
was not any competition.

Showing in the Toy Group
My 3rd Novice Win
Summer of 2005 I became co-owner of a lovely
Parti-Cocker Spaniel who helped me attain, at
his first show, my last win to enter Open Senior.
I am aging out this September and I hope to
apply for the Jrs Judging license. I am
currently studying to be a Veterinarian
Technician and hope to graduate in 2007.
