Pedigree Junior Rules for 2006 Competition

Open Intermediate and Open Senior: At all AKC licensed All-Breed shows held on Saturday and Sunday only, for the calendar year January thru December 2006, the winner of each class will be given one (1) point for each competitor that he/she defeats, in their respective class, as recorded by the American Kennel Club (AKC). At the end of the year the Open Senior and Open Intermediate with the most points will be invited to the Pedigree Awards Dinner in New York City during the Westminster 2007 weekend. In addition, the winner of the Open Senior Class will be sent to the 2007 Crufts Dog Show in Birmingham, England. The winner of the Open Intermediate will be sent to the 2007 World Dog Show in Mexico City, Mexico. Each winner will be allowed one (1) chaperone, who must be a parent or legal guardian, and be approved by Pedigree.
In the year a junior observes a birthday that moves them from Open Intermediate to Open Senior, the rules will be as follows:
Birthdates before July 1: the junior will be moved into the Open Senior class from Open Intermediate class (per AKC rules) and will have all of their earned wins/points applied to their ranking in Open Senior. Thus, when the birth date falls before July 1, the Open Intermediate competes for Pedigree Best Open Senior Award.

Birthdates on or after July 1:
the junior will be moved into the Open Senior class from Open Intermediate class (per AKC rules) but will continue to have all of their earned wins/points applied to their ranking in the Intermediate Class. Thus, when the birth date falls on or after July 1, the Open Intermediate continues to compete for Pedigree Best Open Intermediate Award in the Open Senior class.

In the year a junior observes a birthday that moves them from Open Junior to Open Intermediate, the rules will be as follows:
(OPEN JUNIOR CLASS WINS/POINTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE)

The Junior will be moved into the Open Intermediate class from Open Junior (per AKC rules). OPEN JUNIOR WINS OR POINTS WILL NOT BE APPLIED TO THEIR RANKING in Open Intermediate. Thus, the Open Junior competes for the Pedigree Best Open Intermediate Award in the Open Intermediate class accumulating only Open Intermediate wins/points.

In the event of a tie in points: The junior with the most victories (first place wins) will be the winner. Should there be a tie in both points and victories; the junior with the highest amount of Second Place finishes will be the winner. Third and fourth placements will be considered should the tie continue.

* Please note that BestJunior.com does not readily have access to juniors birthdates.  If your are moving up and feel as though this will effect your overall points, please notify BestJunior at nichole@bestjunior.com or shelley@bestjunior.com and indicate the junior in question and the corresponding birthdate.  If there is concern over the validty of the birthdate, in which the overall winning junior in the intermediate or the senior competition may be affected, BestJunior.com may require documentation of the juniors birthdate.
