Various Scholarship Opportunities

The following listing of scholarship opportunities are sponsored and carried out by various clubs and/or associations involved in the sport of purebred dogs. This list is provided as a resource by BestJunior only. BestJunior has no affiliation with the following clubs or programs, however we salute them for offering these opportunities to the juniors who participate in this sport!

AKC Junior Scholoarships - Offered directly by the American Kennel Club.  Past scholarships have ranged from $5000-$1000 each and have totaled over $50,000.

AKC/Eukanuba National Championship - Past awards have been a $2,000 scholarship, by winning Best Junior Handler at the annual National Championship.

Westminster Kennel Club - Vetrinary student scholarships.

Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Show - Has offered up to $1000 to the Best Junior Handler in Show, in the past, along with $250 scholarships for the first place junior handler in each class.

Dog Writers Association of America (Junior Education Award) - $500 to $1000 scholarships have been awarded on the past.  Qualifications include:  writing, grades, and dog experience. 

Junior Achievement Challenge (J.A.C.) Scholorship Program - Sponsored by the Oklahoma City Kennel Club and Jack Onofrio Dog Shows.  Guarantees scholorships of no less than $750.00.  Past winners have received up to $1000 and a trip to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship for the Best Junior Handler.  Runner Ups have received $500 to $1000 in scholarships in the past.

Central Region Top Junior Handler - Limited Entry Competition (2 wins in an Open class in the Central Region States required for entry).  Sponsored by the Wichita Kennel Club.  Past scholorships have included $1200.00 for the top junior handler and 3 awards of merit of at least $400.00 each.

Central Ohio Kennel Club Youth Award - Past Scholarship has been offered at $500.00

Oregon Dog Judges - Past receipients have recieved $250.00 scholarships.  Eligibility includes qualification for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and intent to enter the show.

California Agility Junior Handler of the Year - Limited Junior Agility Showmanship competition sponsored by the Sun Maid kennel Club of Fresno, Inc.  Must be a California resident.  Open, Novice and Excellent level junior handler sholarships available.

California Obedience Junior Handler of the Year - Limited Junior Obedience Showmanship competition sponsored by the Sun Maid kennel Club of Fresno, Inc.  Must be a California resident.

California Junior Handler of the Year (Conformation) - Limited Junior Obedience Showmanship competition sponsored by the Sun Maid kennel Club of Fresno, Inc.  Must be a California resident. 

Northeast Junior Handler of the Year - Sponsored by Windham County Kennel Club (MA).  Limited Entry Competition (2 wins in an Open class in the North Eastern States required for entry and must be a resident of one of the qualifying North Eastern States).  Past awards have been a $1000 scholarship for the Best Junior and up to $500 in scholarships for three finalists.

Wisconsin Top Junior Handler of the Year - Past scholorships have included $1000.00 for the top junior handler and 3 awards of merit of at least $250.00 each.

Louisville Kennel Club - A regional competition that has offered a $1000 scholarship to the best junior handler and $250 in scholarships to three awards of Merit winners, in the past.
